Use of articles
Uses at least three sources. Uses at least two sources. May use two sources but one is only mentioned briefly. Does not cite any sources.
Synthesis of information
Clear synthesis of information; sources are cited to support understanding. Information is synthesized but does not clearly demonstrate understanding. Most articles are summarized with long quotes included; synthesis is not apparent. Articles are simply summarized; no real synthesis of information apparent.
Writing mechanics
APA format throughout, no misspelled words or grammatical errors. APA format, no more than one misspelled word or grammatical error. May start to flow as a paper, but that is a stretch; no more than two misspelled words or grammatical errors. Poorly written, doesn’t flow as one paper, misspelled words, grammatical errors.

Note: Criteria are evaluated on a 4-3-2-1-0 basis. Total rubric points are converted first to a letter grade and then to a numerical equivalent based on a 0–100 scale: 12 = A (93–100); 11 = A– (90–92); 10 = B+ (88–89); 9 = B (83–87); 8 = B– (80–82); 7 = C+ (78–79); 6 = C (72–77); 5 = C– (70–71); 2–4 = D (60–69); 0–1 = F (below 60).
